MacGregor Village Shops and Restaurants

MacGregor Village Shops and Restaurants

Cary, North Carolina - Local's Best Kept Secrets

MacGregor Village is located at 107 Edinburgh Drive just outside of the MacGregor Downs Neighborhood in Cary, NC. This shopping center has seen many changes over the years and in most recent years there were even talks of demolition to make room for a Costco or another car dealership.

Tucked away in a nondescript shopping center that looks like it has seen better days, are some of the Cary Local's favorite spots to eat, drink and be merry. Although it seems somewhat dated and hard to find, the business that are there have been there for many years, because the locals love them!

However, there are some new plans in the works for this long standing community gem. A spokesperson for Washington Prime, Kevin Jones, a division of Simon Properties, stated that the shopping center will not be sold and will instead be renovated and redeveloped in the near future. Existing long time tenants will continue to serve the local community while a fresh new concept and more tenants will be introduced.

Don't wait for the renovations though, come down now and support the local establishments that have held strong and stayed in MacGregor Village serving their loyal customer base.

Cary's best steakhouse, Jimmy V's Steak House & Tavern, is located in MacGregor Village, serving Certified Angus Beef, award winning steak and seafood dishes and a large selection of wine, cocktails and beer. The atmosphere can't be beat!

Tony's Oyster Bar has been the neighborhood go to restaurant in MacGregor Village for over 15 years. Featuring outstanding local live music and delicious offerings in fine cuisine, it's easy to see why Tony's is a local favorite.

Another local favorite is the MacGregor Draft House. For over a decade the MacGregor Draft House has been providing locals with a fun atmosphere for watching sports, meeting friends and having a great casual meal.

Hot Shots Billiards & Sports Bar is your typical pool hall with the usual cast of characters. It's the "Cheers" of Cary and has been the local watering hole and hang out spot for many years. If you are a pool playing aficionado, you will appreciate that Hotshots boasts 10 top of the line, regulation Brunswick 9 foot pool tables.

If you are in the mood for Sushi, Wasabi has been pleasing patrons with their sushi and Thai specialties for many years. Their BOGO Sushi specials are a local favorite. The challenge is trying to decide what to order while looking over their extensive menu.

MacGregor Village is also home to many local businesses. Block & Associates is one of the area's largest property management and rental specialist. Other tenants include a Mortgage Broker, Financial Planner, Dentist, Medical, shoe repair and dry cleaners.

We are looking forward to what's to come for our neighborhood shopping center. Stay tuned as we continue to follow the developments in the MacGregor Village shopping center.

The Normandie Neighborhood in Cary, NC 27511 is desirable because of its excellent Cary location, well manicured homes, sought after schools and easy access to Wake Med Hospital, major highways and employers. Normandie is a small close knit subdivision in Cary backs up to MacGregor Downs, a popular golf course community in Cary, NC.

The developers of the Normandie neighborhood obviously had a good time picking the names of the streets. Victor Hugo Dr, W Jules Verne Way, E Jules Verne Way, Emile Zola Dr, Balzac Ct, Renoir Ct, Esplanade Ct, S Devimy Ct, Degas Ct and N Devimy Ct. Can you see the connection in some of the names?

Homes in the Normandie neighborhood are what would be considered "executive" homes and range from the low $400,000 to mid $500,000. Homes feature large well manicured lawns and stately traditional Carolina architecture. There is an HOA which helps preserve the well groomed atmosphere of the neighborhood.

Shopping nearby Normandie include Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Harris Teeter for groceries. The recently renovated Waverly Place shopping plaza is nearby, where Whole Foods is located. Shops and restaurants are centered around a sunken courtyard with waterfalls, a kids playground and splash pad and a large grassy area for running around. Events throughout the year are very popular with the locals. Another great venue for events in the Koka Booth Amphitheater, located just minutes from Normandie. The annual Food and Wine Festival, along with concerts and special events are held here year round. The Lake Pine Community Park is within walking distance of the Normandie Neighborhood and features serene walking trails around Apex Lake.

Downtown Cary, is  a picturesque quintessential small town with quaint streets, historic buildings and tree-lined streets. The Heart of Cary Association works to preserve the rich heritage of the area while supporting businesses in the downtown area and bringing people downtown for all it has to offer.

Neighborhoods surrounding downtown Cary were built in the early days of the town into the 1960's. Historic bungalows and Victorian charmers can be found in this area. A revival has happened in recent years and now historic homes are rarely available for sale. There are still opportunities for refurbishing older homes, but you have to act quickly when a home comes on the market.

The original school house was revamped into a modern facility where residents can enjoy performances, take art and dance classes and enjoy special events.  The downtown Cary Farmer's Market is also located on Academy St.

As the area grew in the 1970's, thanks to water being routed from the Johnson Reservoir and the job growth of the Research Triangle, Cary began to grow from a sleepy little country village into a suburban town.
